Minneriya National Park

The Minneriya National Park is famed for its “Elephant Gathering”, a spectacular phenomenon during the long dry seasons, when hundreds of Elephants, both the adults and young along with a few tuskers, sometimes numbering close to 200 (with some sightings claiming close to 700) can be seen feeding on the grasslands bordering the tank, with others cooling off in the giant tank. This annual event considered to be the largest Wild Elephant gathering in South Asia attracts hundreds of tourist visitors who come to the park to observe and experience this unique wildlife spectacle

Kaudulla National Park

t is famous for its large elephant gatherings, particularly during the dry season (August to December), when herds migrate from nearby Minneriya National Park in search of water. The park covers approximately 66.6 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including sambar deer, sloth bears, leopards, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

  • Elephant Migration: Kaudulla is part of Sri Lanka’s “Elephant Corridor,” where elephants move between parks like Minneriya and Wasgamuwa.

Hurulu Eco Park

ocated near Habarana in the North Central Province. It is part of the larger Hurulu Forest Reserve, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and is famous for its elephant safaris, especially as an alternative to the more crowded Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks.
